Before you buy.

Try it first, then decide.

Can I try it first?

Yes, and you should. Every instrument and effect has a demo that plays everything in your DAW, with no time limit: no account, no card, no clock. Each one's page has its download.

Does it run on my computer, in my DAW?

On a Mac with Apple silicon and macOS 15 or later, as a VST3 or an AU, in Ableton Live, FL Studio, Logic Pro, Cubase or any other DAW that hosts one. There is no standalone app: our instruments and effects live in your DAW. Windows is coming, for Windows 11, with no date yet; a license is valid on both, and the newsletter says when. The demo is the way to be sure.

Can I use it in music I release?

Yes. What you make is yours, to release and to sell, with no fee and no credit owed. The one thing you can't do is sell or give away the sounds and presets as a library of your own. The license says the rest.

Does it send anything anywhere?

No. No account, no activation server, no usage data, no update check. Our instruments and effects don't connect to anything.

Buying.

Paddle takes the payment. We make the software and send the license.

Who takes the payment?

Paddle, our reseller and the merchant of record for every order. It takes the payment and sends the receipt. The price includes your country's VAT, and the receipt shows it. Its checkout shows the ways to pay where you are: cards, and often PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay.

I need an invoice.

Paddle's receipt is your invoice. Buying for a company? Add its VAT or tax number in the checkout.

Can I get my money back?

Yes. Ask within fourteen days of buying and you get it back in full, no reason needed. The refund policy says how.

Can I buy for someone else, a studio or a school?

Yes. A license carries the name of the person who uses it, so put their name and email address in the form and it goes straight to them. A company, school or studio buys the same way, one checkout a license. Need several at once? Write to support@polarfon.com.

I bought a code from a shop.

Turn it into a license at Redeem a code: the code, the name you want on the license and where to send it. It usually arrives within a minute, and each code works once. Code not working? Write to support@polarfon.com and tell us where you bought it.

Your license.

One license, in your name, on all your computers.

How does the license arrive?

By email, usually within a minute of paying: a block of text with your name and a code.

How do I activate it?

Open the instrument or effect, copy the whole block from the email and paste it into the sheet that opens (or click the POLARFON wordmark to open the menu, then LICENSE), then press ACTIVATE. That's all: nothing goes online.

How many computers?

Every computer you own, with one license, on every system it runs on. Paste it once on each. It carries your name: it's yours, not to share.

I can't find my license email.

Look in the spam folder first. Then type your address at My licenses and every license at it comes back by email. A typo in the address when you bought? Write to support@polarfon.com with the name you bought under.

My email address has changed.

Write to support@polarfon.com from the address your license was sent to, and tell us the new one. We move your licenses there.

Can I transfer my license?

Yes, from six weeks after it became yours: write to support@polarfon.com with the new owner's name and email address. Until nine months it costs €10, then it's free. The new owner gets a license in their own name, and yours is no longer valid. We trust you to take it off your computers: click the POLARFON wordmark to open the menu, choose LICENSE and press FORGET, or remove it. A press copy can't be transferred.

Installing and updating.

One installer, and every update within a major version is free.

How do I install it?

Open the installer and follow it. It puts the AU and the VST3 where every DAW looks for them.

How do I update, and what does it cost?

Run the latest installer over the one you have; your license carries over. Updates are free: every 1.x version, like 1.1 or 1.5, comes with your license. An upgrade is the next big version, 2.0, and may cost something; it says what before you download it, and your 1.x keeps working either way. Drum's page lists what the latest releases changed.

How do I remove it?

First, if the Mac is going to someone else, click the POLARFON wordmark to open the menu, choose LICENSE and press FORGET. Then delete its .component from /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components and its .vst3 from /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3. Your own work is in ~/Documents/Polarfon, under its name: keep it or delete it.

When something is wrong.

Most things are fixed by a rescan or a fresh paste. For the rest, write to us.

It isn't in my DAW's list.

Have the DAW scan its plug-ins again; most keep a list from the last scan. Still missing? Write to support@polarfon.com with your DAW and its version and your macOS version.

My license doesn't work.

Paste the whole block again, from its BEGIN line to its END line, the Name line too. Still no luck? Run the latest installer and paste once more. Still not working? Write to support@polarfon.com.

Still stuck? Write to us.

One email address for everything: support@polarfon.com. The people who made it read it and write back, usually within two working days.

A problem with our software.

Which instrument or effect and its version, your DAW and its version, your macOS version, what you did and what happened. Its settings can copy a system report: paste that in.

A question about your license.

Write from the address the license was sent to. That is how we know it is you; there is no account to log in to.

A question about a payment.

Paddle took the payment and sent the receipt; its help is at paddle.net. Or write to us: either way you get an answer.

Press.

You write about instruments and effects, or film them. Ask for a press copy; About has the logo and the pictures.

Shops and schools.

You want to sell our software, or teach with it. Tell us what you have in mind.

A security hole.

In our software, in a license, or in this site: tell us first and we fix what we can. Thank you for that.
